Passover (Hebrew word Pessach) is the biggest religious festival of Jewish people. They celebrate this holiday up to a week (8 days in Diaspora /or orthodox community) . Passover tells the story of struggle, story of victory & the story of liberation from slavery to freedom .
This festival has a very strong message to promise the solidarity and empathy with the minorities in society and raise the voice against discrimination and oppression as slavery is not only inside the stories, its hidden everywhere among us in different forms.
Moses was send by God to Egypt to free the people of Israel from their slavery. In this very day Jewish people tell the stories of exodus, how did they arrive in Israel . Every year Passover is celebrated with greatest joy and happiness rising a glass of wine, eating unleavened bread during the entire observance . And hence they assume themselves as a part of the journey.
This festival has a very strong message to promise the solidarity and empathy with the minorities in society and raise the voice against discrimination and oppression as slavery is not only inside the stories, its hidden everywhere among us in different forms.
Passover recalls the birth of Jewish nation Israel, consecrated to serve direct to God not to Egyptian tyranny .
The story takes us to land of pharaoh Egypt at the scene ” Moses breaking the tablet of the law” . Gustave Dore has illustrated many biblical characters. This is one of them .
My painting master [ I am a student of artist house Tel Aviv ], Gad Apoteker has also created a strong and influential piece of art, his version of “Moses breaking the tablet of the law” . Gad is only one Israeli artist to have his art works displayed in Florence, Italy together with Michelangelo’s work .
Great respect and honor to Moshe Rabbenu, the deliverer, the hero of Passover, Hero of freedom .
Happy Passover !!!
