Google Arts & Culture launches collection with life and work of Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo is one of big name of my inspiring artist. Google Arts & Culture has launched an online art collection dedicated to celebrate the life and work of Frida Kahlo .

“The project has the support of more than 30 partners from seven different countries to bring a collection of more than 800 pieces, containing works, images, letters, portraits and more than 5 virtual tours through Street View”, says Google.

The collection also includes many works of art and private collections artifacts that have never been available online, such as “View of New York,” in which Kahlo designed what he saw through the window of the Barbizon Plaza Hotel in 1932.

Visitors will also find several older versions of Kahlo’s best works – many of them scrawled on the back of pre-made screens and therefore unknown to the rest of the world for many years.

Of this collection, 20 works can be seen in super high definition, which allows to see details that would go unnoticed by the naked eye. As an example, in the work “Self-portrait dedicated to Leon Trotsky”, in which it will be possible to see a letter of Frida in the work.

“Frida e eu” was also developed, a collaboration with artist Alexa Meade, singer Ely Guerra and photographer Cristina Kahlo (the artist’s granddaughter), showing the influence and importance that Frida, as a woman and artist, brought to important names in music and photography of the 21st century, both in Mexico and in the world.

In addition, through Virtual Reality technology, it will be possible to know the places, moments, people, works and artistic influences that marked the life of the Mexican artist through the three virtual tours created so that users feel close to the milestones and details that have determined the career of Frida Kahlo.
