Facebook to hire 3,000 more workers to monitor violent videos

The goal of this measure is to review and eliminate content that is not allowed on Facebook as quickly as possible.

Facebook has announced that it will hire 3,000 more people in the next 12 months to expand the team that is responsible for monitoring reports of violent acts that are regularly published on the social network.

This was announced by Mark Zuckerberg , founder of Facebook, who said in a message posted on his profile that recent cases of violence are ” devastating ” and led him to reflect on how we can make things better for community.

“If we are going to build a safe community we have to respond quickly. We are working to make it easier to report these videos to take action, either by responding quickly when someone needs help or by blocking videos,” Zuckerberg explained.

Likewise, the CEO of Facebook has emphasized that the company currently has 4,500 people who daily monitor the “millions” of complaints received each week, and the goal is that within a year that team has 7,500 employees .

“They will help us to review and eliminate things we do not want on Facebook, such as hate speech, murders, sucide or exploitation of minors , and will allow us to continue working with community groups and security forces,” he explained.

Since opening to the public a year ago, Facebook’s live video service has issued, both accidentally and on purpose, acts of violence ranging from suicides to murders. Facebook wants this social network safe and secured for all.
